Sunflower seeds are separated from their hulls during processing to obtain high protein sunflower meal and sunflower oil. The hull, then, is cracked and pulverized or turned into pellets by heat treatment. It is used as a filler in the production of roughage. It is also used as fuel to be burned in factory boilers.
